ATR Performance R35 GTR Aeromotive 10GPM Fuel Pump Solution

We’ve been quietly developing parts for the R35 platform over the past 7+ years.  Our shop car has gone from 550 to over 2100hp.  Along the way we’ve hit a few speed bumps and have found solutions.  The fuel system has always been a frustrating topic, especially when you want to drive a 1000 or even 2000+ hp car on the streets, much less the very hot streets of Gilbert Arizona.  When we exceeded the capabilities of the Radium dual brushless pump setup (our favorite solution for cars 1500 or less HP), we set out to find a bigger and better solution.  Many builders go with a mechanical fuel pump setup, but we’ve found these to be unreliable for a street car – Especially in the heat.  Cars tend to vapor lock and require starting fluid to get going.  What’s more, most mechanical pump setups require a fuel cell or forward mounted auxiliary tanks.  We wanted to retain the OEM fuel tank for less headache and ease of use.  We also wanted to eliminate all of the excessive plumbing, wiring, and general headache that comes along with most aftermarket fueling solutions.  And lastly, we wanted to be able to drive our 2000+ hp car whenever and wherever we like on Ethanol and Methanol.

After extensive research and testing, we are proud to present our ATR Performance/Aeromotive 10GPM fueling solution.  We didn’t invent the fuel pump, Aeromotive did.  But what we did do is fabricate the components to allow you to run this pump on your R35 GTR using the OEM fuel tank!  What’s more, we have engineered this to be very simple and user friendly – The pump and hanger can be installed in an hour or two, and only requires one set of wiring.  Additionally, the pump can be removed for service in less than 10 minutes once installed.

We’ve adapted the Aeromotive TVS 10GPM pump to drop into your OEM fuel tank and function just like the factory pumps did.  This means the in tank fuel transfer system is retained (and simplified).  Your car will ALWAYS start right up, even in 110+ degree AZ weather.  Your fuel level gauge will also work as OEM.  The pump will also allow your car to produce in excess of 2000hp.  We have run this pump in our shop car for a year and a half now.  Our latest dyno results are 2086hp running a mixture of ethanol and methanol.  We do not currently know the horsepower limitations of this pump but have been working feverishly to get there.  What we do know is that this pump has taken everything we have thrown and it, and has not skipped a beat on or off the track.  We’ve run it on the AZ streets in 110 degree weather, and its never once let us down.  We have run a 7.57 1/4 with this setup, and are hoping to push it to a 7.3 in the coming months as well.

We had offered a complete front to back plug n play fueling solution, but have found that some clients like to run their own wiring and plumbing.  We have therefore broken our kit down to be pieced together.  Some things to be aware of when building your R35 fuel system:

1. You will need an 80amp capable power supply
2. You will need custom -10 fuel feed lines and -8 return lines, including a high flow flex sensor adapter
3. You will need a 10 micron inline fuel filter
4. You will need a high flow fuel pressure regulator capable of flowing 10GPM or better

2. ATR Performance fuel hat to OEM tank
3. New fuel sending unit
4. In tank transfer valve with over pressure relief to avoid back pressure on fuel return

6. All fittings, hardware and wiring for the fuel hanger fully assembled and ready to drop into your OEM fuel tank

The Aeromotive TVS 10 GPM pump is a variable speed brushless motor paired with a mechanical fuel pump in a single housing.  The pump controller is not pictured, but is a simple box that mounts in your trim panel next to the fuel pump.  On low duty, this pump produces 3.5GPM and can be ramped up to 10GPM as needed with a simple 0-12v+ input which can be configured to your setup as needed – The possibilities are endless.  You could easily run a stock car on low speed, or fuel a full on race car up to 10GPM.  Do it once and do it right with ATR Performance!
